Holy Trinity News

Remembrance Sunday
Is a solemn day full of symbolism to help us all “remember” the dead of World War I & World War II. From its association with poppies flowering in the Spring of 1915 on the battlefields of Belgium, France & Gallipoli – this vivid red flower has become the symbol of the great loss of life in war. The Parish Mass is a Requiem and the word requiem means “Rest Eternal” a prayer for the departed. The purple vestments are a sign of sorrow and the Pascal (Easter) Candle is lit as a symbol of our belief in the Resurrection. The Gloria (a song of joy) is not sung today.
