A number of our congregation also play an important role in the worship and celebration of mass:
Lay Assistant or Communion/Eucharistic Minister
This is someone who is licensed by the Bishop to administer the consecrated bread and wine at Holy Communion(and to read from the Scriptures). The License includes taking the consecrated elements to people at home, either directly from the service or at a later time. It is a privilege to serve the local Church in this way.It requires ordinary people who have a sense of the importance and significance of Holy Communion and who are willing to develop their own sense of reverence and spirituality
An Altar server plays a very important part in the celebration of the Mass. Not only do they assist the Celebrant at the Altar – they also are an example for the entire congregation. The role of Server at Holy Trinity is open to children, youth and adults who feel the call to serve God in this unique and wonderful way.
If you are interested in becoming an Altar Server please let us know. Full training will be given. For a copy of the Servers handbook or for further information please contact us
A sidesperson is responsible for greeting members of the congregation, overseeing seating arrangements in church, and for taking the collection. They are usually elected at the Annual Parochial Church Council AGM and they receive guidance in their duties from the churchwardens.
